Hum I love to sort of make sure that everybody can see and hear while we wait for some people to pop in here, so if a couple of you could give a shout out. If you can hear good. Thank you. Thank you. I tested this a little bit this morning being outside and.
Thinking it should be OK I think that.

I can hear and see you!
Hopefully we won't hear like a siren or a truck backing up or anything like that. But I tested and even with the wind and stuff, it seemed to be OK. so I thought it be nice to have a different.

The sound quality is great
Setting for most of you this is your first web and R, an for me, I've done a lot, so I thought I'd change it up a little bit from being inside my office and so I thought I'd come out. This is our backyard here at Jackson and.
We are in a beautiful tree line. St in the middle of New Haven's so I wanted to show that off a little bit, it might get a little a Disney wobbly if I pick you up and show you around but see I don't know if you can hear those horns or not so hopefully, it won't distract too much and that this will be a nice a different setting for you so I thought it be a lot of fun to dry and do this and pull it Offen and hopefully will be OK.
I see some people still pumping in so we have an hour, so, give him a couple minutes to get in and then I know that most of you can see and hear me and hopefully when I was testing. There were some squirrels chasing each other and making a lot of fuss. So hopefully, then will be the downfall of the web and R but I'm excited to do this with you something. I love to do whenever I start. These webinars is figure out do kind of a shout out where you all over.

Ethiopia!
I can throw my papers away so they don't blow away to learn a little others in Ethiopia on two. I did not see that in the RSVP's welcome to Ethiopia. So this is just a great example of the reach that experience, I'm pretty new here, so I've been out there on the road.
Hopefully you'll learn something new. I know some people like to attend more than one and maybe that's another reason why I wanted a different venue for some of you, but at the same time I like to leave a lot of time for all of you so you can ask your questions and sometimes that can just change the dynamic of the weapon are kind of know what the different questions that are being asked in R.
Information you want to know so I will do a pretty brief overview of who we are, and some of the unique things about us and what we're looking for and then I'll open it up for questions. So I'm moderating the chat and hopefully I will be able to do that, so pardon any.
Issues with that, but I think I will just dive right in. We make sure I can see OK good just want to make sure I could see all of the chat things as they come in so first, another official welcome. Thanks for being here and we are in New Haven, CT at Yale University and and Jackson is located in central campus and.
Surrounded by beautiful green grass.
We had a lot of torrential rain yesterday, so that made it even greener, but really nice to be here in case some of you don't know the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs has been approved to become the next professional school at Yale. It'll be the first professional school established by Yale since 1976, when the School of Management.
3 minute walk down the road was established that the Business School here at you.
And so where were super excited for that opportunity, not a whole lot will change except hopefully a lot of influx of resources lot of faculty anticipated an hopefully a lot. A lot of monetary funds for resources for the school end for all as well. So we're really excited about that. We're going to roll out for launch sort of in around 2022 is what we're looking for so.
For now keep this in mind as you if you're applying this year. Or maybe next that we are still part of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences here at Yale. So when you go into the application. We follow all of their their rules and their construct in the requirements, so do keep that in mind when you go into the application. You are applying through the Graduate School and you choose. Jackson, at Global Affairs as the program of interest so keep that in mind next year still.
But I just wanted to reiterate some people think well does that mean just school is new, yes and no we have a tremendous history here at Yale Jackson, an early iteration of Jackson is is we have been it was the IR program over 40 years ago started here at Yale, so that the AI program was a founding member of Epsie, which is the Association of professional schools of International Affairs.
Which if you haven't checked them out you? Should abcya.org they have a lot of resources and we do a lot of their events. I'll be heading to Asia this November. We finally have that nail down so all of you who might be over in Asia, like stop by we're going to be in Tokyo. Seoul and we Unfortunately just had to replace Hong Kong for obvious reasons and we're going to be in Singapore. So check out our calendar for that and hope to see you over, there, but definitely check out apps.
But Yeles IR Program was a founding member of Axia. So we have a tremendous history. And then about 10 years ago. The program was granted huge donation from an alarm. John Jackson and his wife, Susan, and that established the Jackson Institute. And while we aren't currently a professional school. We really have been operating as one for anybody who is familiar with the program or who?
No alarm of the program or know about the program. We are a professional program and pretty competitive for better works for all of you are applying so we have, I think some of our unique things about the program is our size. So we are very, very small program. We have for our two year MA program. We have about 30 thirty 35 students.
And in RMS, which is an MCU program. We have, we use that only maybe 1 or 2 were trying out 3 to 4. This year to see how that goes but we're very intentionally small so that keeps an intimate nature to the program, which that plans to stay the same going forward. Even when moving come a school. That's really sort of important to us and we're very cohort driven and we have only 3 core classes, which is.
Pretty small compared to a lot of the other Top policy schools, so that works for us at stats, E con in history. And those have to be taken here. They're taking two of those in your first semester and one in the second semester, splitting those by semester was at the request of some former students who have wanted to maintain that cohesive cohort beyond just the first semester so.
Ask and ask those kinds of things in in this can often be accommodated. So it was a good curriculum structure change that, so far has I believe this been going well so.
It's it's Jackson, the building where were housed in one of the administrative offices are has a student lounge and people still come by, and and again this being my very first fall at Jackson. I have to say that it's it's been fun to see we have a number of students. Students who do joint degrees with the school management or the school forestry or the law school and they still come over to Jackson and hang out in the lounge and have some coffee and and all that kind of thing, so it's.
It's definitely a tight knit community even though they can also take you can take most of your classes at any of the other professional schools that you also that again. The curriculum here is one of the main unique vote features of Jackson's program where you have again just the 3 poor and then all of the other classes. While we would. Love you to take them at Jackson with Jackson faculty and Senior Fellows. You can take them at any of the other professional schools at Yale so.
That really adds to the flexibility and interdisciplinary nature of the program so that's that's really important to us and I talked a bit about location were in a city new even the small city it's a manageable city and.
I'm still fascinated by income and have lunch out in this quiet grassy area that we are in the middle of a city and it's just a beautiful place and just be mindful that we are also we have access to all of eels resources and that's can be overwhelming, too because there are so many things that go on here and and the conferences and talks and there's all sorts of things that happen and it's it's been a great experience for myself even as a staff member and I think.
If you know any alarm or current students. You'll find that it's it's an amazing opportunity to be part of this community and we're really transportation-wise. Some people like Well, you're not in DC. We are right on the NE corridor. It's an easy shot. Amtrak of the in DC twice this month, so amtracks a straight shot into DC and Boston's just to our N and you can many ways to get to New York City, a lot of people commute from here into New York.
And so it's it's it's very easy. I found to get around this area and it's beautiful, New England and I love it, so far.
And with the core we talked about the corner am I do want to quickly touch base on the Oh before I talk about the funding just hang on a little bit of academic things. Other requirements that we have and one of those is a language requirement so.
That is something that you have to complete before graduation, so many of you if English is not your first language, then you are likely to wave out of it.
And then you get sorry I got distracted by little dog when I'm in here, so you. You can wave out of that, ideally before you enroll you can still take classes language classes here. If you wish and if you are a people do not have another language. You have to take language classes, while you're here and it's amazing, the wealth of language offerings that Yale has its tremendous you can actually look at that through.
Melissa McGinnis
12:14:29 PM
https://courses.yale.edu/
Of course, let me actually really quickly send that link to you. I I the courses list here. I wanted to post it because it might be hard to find with this link not only he can. You look up the language classes but when you were looking there if you actually search for GLBL that's where you can see all of the.
Classes that we offer projects him and you can see all the classes that you might be able take elsewhere. So little side note that is why 4 hour, 2 year program we have.
We have the dog visiting that is why we have. We usually do require about 2 to 5 years of work experience for the program so.
Part of that has to do with well. This is a professional program and and we really value. What you bring to the table in the classroom. So we look for people with a lot of experience out in the field and people are coming from all over way before and service or maybe they're doing international text stuff or their doing International Development. There are lots of different things and backgrounds of people come with as long as you have that commitment to global global affairs in the global good. That's really what we're looking for.
Anne also it really helps to know what you want to do in this grad program and in your career trajectory, so otherwise coming to a place like Yale and having access to thousands of classes that could be completely overwhelming so knowing having a general policy idea of what you want to do you don't have to be very, very exact and know exactly which courses you want to take when you're applying but having a good general idea.
Sort of know what you want to get out of this program and that's something that we look for in the application process. So you you want to tell us not just about who you are in your background. But what you wanna get out of the program at Jackson and how you want to use it to further your career so having an idea before we even start is actually beneficial and that's why we kind of looked at that it's not a minimum requirement to have sort of 2 to 5 years of experience, but it is something that we do prefer and will strengthen your application.
This when I talk about a lot of this, it really is about our two year. MA program if any of you are out. There are interested in the AMA S happening answer questions. But it's the man's program is pretty simple and straightforward so one year program fully customizable. No core requirements. No summer requirements. And Unfortunately no funding available, either, which is why you'll see if you've looked at the history of the Ms that majority of them are.
Externally funded or a sponsored by their governments or the military so that's as often where that comes from so when I'm talking a lot about requirements and things keep that in mind that it is the main focus is sort of the MA Program, or traditional to your program so, so with that stand the one final requirement that the inmate does have is the summer experience so that's are the required summer internship between the 1st and 2nd year and it's usually I think between 8:00.
12 weeks and we have a career services office who works with you individually. Well, they will sit down with you 1 on one as soon as you arrive before classes, even start and see what it is that you want to do what you want to get out of the summer experience do you want to do something different?
Differently then you've done in the past may be giving you more in alignment with you want to do in the future. If there's an if you're learning, some new experiences so that is another. That's the other requirement. So the 3 core. The language requirement in the summer experience are the main requirements for the program itself.
Jackson actually has amazing funding and having been in the graduate admissions circuit in public and internationally famous for over 20 years before I came here to Jackson. I was surprised that I didn't know that and so I now feel like it's my job. Will it is my actual job. But I really feel like it's important to make sure the word gets out there. The amazing funding that Jackson offers so 100% of the people who apply an ask for funding received something.
And our minimum award to date is half tuition, so at the very least, you would be offered. Half tuition less again. Lesser externally funded or sponsored.
You will receive half tuition or another level would be have to issue a full tuition and then we offer. We also offer full tuition an up to a full stipend and I believe this year majority of the class did receive full tuition in full segments. So our funding is merit based so while our admissions process is sort of you know, blind on the finance side we?
Don't determine financial aid until after admissions decisions are made but you will find out usually within 24 to 48 hours if not at the same time that an admissions decision is made if you were admitted you will know you are financial award, either right away or within a couple days and so we do merit based funding so that's kind of where your work experience your GPA series and all of those things will come into play.
They're not minimum requirements for admission, but we will consider them when we are considering financial aid so that's the overview of that I briefly mentioned careers with the career development office and they again. Besides working 1 on one with students they bring in bring employers trips to do networking.
With alarm, and with employers I'm excited to MLB at the one in October. This full they didn't do. New York last year. 'cause there wasn't a lot of interest. But this year's class has already asked if there's enough of us of of them to get together and want to do a networking event in New York. Can we and Crypto Development, was like, yeah, Hey, if there's a need. Let's see if we can pull this together, so I think I mentioned this for asking.
There's something that you are interested in whether it's realize or student life lies because there's also a lot of organizations and student groups, social and otherwise salons and seminars and Whatnot. There could be funding for some of those things. So there's so, so many opportunities that I can't really talk about them. Also, the website has a lot of information.
This loyalty will be faculty. I don't know how many of you are aware of our senior Fellows. But they are a huge asset to our to our standard. Jackson and yell faculty. The Senior Fellows are usually here for a year or 2 or 3 and they teach classes and they are available for mentoring usually they need TAS or TS horse assistant CSS and to have that opportunity to work more closely with them.
They'll give lectures outside of the classroom and they often bring in a lot of people into their classes that so.
Like other practitioners that they've known from working in the field. These people are pretty high level in their careers. Their ambassadors powered team here. We have a lot of former White House officials. So it's it's it's really unique atmosphere and when I have found is because of a small intimate nature. We run into them all the time.
Discussing bagels and muffins with our Dean just yesterday. It's just a real.
A real unique opportunity and so now I feel like I'm rambling a little bit and I don't want to do that. Let me stop for a moment and see I haven't looked to see if there's any questions in a little bit. I'm glad to see that mostly on so you haven't cut miaf, yet so let me.
Give you a second to see if there's any questions about anything I've talked about so far. I'll grab a drink here and if anybody has any questions will sort of jump on those 'cause. I think that'll be like best to see exactly what it is, you're looking for otherwise sharing what's unique about us and we have about 1/2 an hour. We don't have to use the whole time, but we do have it before we get cutoff so.
Go ahead and hopefully you're still there and you can still hear me and you're not distracted by dogs and wind and beeping cars in the cicadas have been a little quiet, too, so anyone have any questions.
Alright I'm not seeing any.
Let's see it making sure I'm not missing them.
You are still out there right.
OK, good somebody is asking a question.
Corey Lockridge
12:24:52 PM
I was wondering if your degrees come with set plans or if you create your own plans?
Alright Corey is asking I was wondering for degrees come with that plans or if you create your own plans, so that's really the nature of the flexibility so you really do you create your own plants?
Outside of the three required courses if you are in MA if you're interested DM S.
All 8 classes are your choice. The 16 MA classes. Three of those are required and the rest is your choice all that to say.
We do have sample matrices that we provide I think there's even a handful on the website director of soon affairs and the registrar put those together? Their samples so if you do look at some of those. I would make sure you keep in mind that that's not like some sort of heart of Astros rule. They're just examples that people have done or that you can do and similar to sitting down with career services for jobs.
The director of student services sits down with each person when they arrive right in the middle of that now and they sit down with you soon Affairs Directory Directory Graduate Studies helps you think through.
Any classes and as many as you want and you don't have had to rich didn't have to have registered for them. Yet you can sit in on those and see which classes you might like 'cause. Some of the faculty. It mean one person taking a class that might be more Department.
What the class is all about how much work it's going to be do you wanna take a mix of theoretical classes and academic classes? Do you wanna take classes without the papers or final exam so there's all those kinds of things the first couple weeks. People are shopping and and figuring all of that out, so during that time and Tored. The end of that time when you actually have to register formally register for the classes directive student fairest sits down, individually and make sure you have all your ducks in a row as they say.

How valuable is work experience? For example, I just graduated from college and was wondering how many years do I need to work before I apply?
So I hope that answers your question Oh goodness and while I was while I was answering that love to be. You have popped in so this is great alright I'll try to get one at a time.
Variances preferred it's not required, but in a program in a court that's about 30 five 3035 students. That is a professional program. We do really value that additional work experience anything that you do above and beyond. Graduation is is definitely valuable because it gives you that real life work experience and we're looking at applications and this is kind of what we're looking for missions perspective.
We are looking for what you can bring to the table.
I've heard in my crew, many times faculty say themselves that you almost learn more from each other in the cohort than you do in your glasses from the faculty and we pride ourselves. In not only bring a cohort of students in into Jackson because we look at this coworker. We look at the balance of where people are coming from which sectors and which areas in regional focus is an animal that kind of thing, so it really is important if something is coming with.
More commonly those those are you in the US or from there with the foreign service might know about like the Pickering for him bears or the Randles Fellowships. Those are specific fellowships that require students to come right from right from underground or it from when they receive, the fellowships were aware of that. But those are fast track. The foreign service career track and so that's right up.
Otherwise, if people are coming with zero to maybe only one year work experience there's gotta be something.
Just super unique about their particular profile whether it's their leadership their volunteer work. Maybe it is stellar academics. Or maybe it's some sort of unique upbringing, Civil War, there's so many examples that there's not just one example. But think about that for all of you whether you're limited work experience or a lot. What is it that makes you unique to stand out among the applicant pool. Hopefully, that answers your question then let me try to.
Go on to the next please keep asking and before I forget feel free to email me. If you have any follow-up questions that I don't get to during this web and R.

Does the admissions team consider only the best score from each section of the GRE if you submit more than one?
Email and we have somebody who monitors that will probably be more on Top of it, then I will have my own so keep that in mind, so if I don't get to all of your questions. Please know that alright so Kevin's screen it.
The admissions team considers only the best scroll from each section of the review submit more than one. Yes, I mean, we have access to all the scores when you submit multiple test dates, but when it comes to reporting what we consider we look at the highest score per section. Regardless of the test date. So if you score better and one in a different test date. Then you did on the other section. That's you know what I'm saying I think yeah, we definitely consider that.
Will look at trajectory for that as well. So you know? Maybe somebody's taking the test, 3 times. And if they score worst each time that might not bode well. But we definitely report on and consider the highest per section, regardless of the test date is a good question.

Amanda Monaghan
12:32:24 PM
I saw on your website that there may be an ability to do language study during the summer experience, can you elaborate on what past students have done?
Um let's see I think somebody empirical question.
Amanda is asking the question about language. I saw I saw in your website that there may be an ability to language study during the summer experience. Can you elaborate on what past students have done? I mean, it's a great question that is definitely true? I don't know the personal stories. 'cause I haven't been here long enough a lot of students to tack on some language training to their summer experience so if you are in a particular country doing your summer internship.
It's likely here in a region.
That is a place that you're interested in pursuing a career or dealing with working in your future.
There might actually be even funding available. I feel like you shouldn't put me on that there's there will say that I didn't say earlier is that funding is available for the summer experience. If you end up in an unpaid internship. So it's a little side side note, but there's up to $5000 is offered if you end up in and apply for it and what you need and what your budget is and all of that kind.
If you're maybe you will get a minimal amount of funding for your internship.
And so you wouldn't obviously get a whole $5000 from Austin. It's sort of. We look at the budget wise so yes. That's a side note to the question about language, but a lot of people do that because something else to consider is the language study here at Yale is pretty intensive there. You'll find it. Most colleges and universities languages are taught at the undergrad level and that on one hand means the schedules a little different.
They might be daily language labs daily may be there early in the morning late in the afternoon so again. They can be pretty intensive and with their actual timing of the day and those that schedule can sometimes conflict with some of the extra curricular stuff. You might want to do at the Graduate School levels. So it ends up being sort of a trivia game I think you can take to language classes.
Her some S term with a total of 4.

Within the small cohort are there specializations? Would you say that students lean towards a more generalized/theory-based education or towards regional studies?
I'm pretty sure that's the the allow ability of languages as your electives and yeah. I think I hope that makes sense. If it doesn't ask me again or send me an email. Let's week owners asking a question about the small cohort specializations. Just say the students lean towards more generalized theory based educational torture, regional mix of both but in my experience.
I think it's mostly regional.
There is an amazing resource of international area studies.
There is Central America and that there's so many things you know they might offer courses as well. And so you can easily come up with a regional specialization and I think a lot of people do because of the flexibility. The curriculum and we don't have formal regional studies like Peru Jensen. We don't say you have a concentration in Latin American studies are or whatever the case may be.
In those kinds of things wouldn't be on your rez on your transcript. But those are things you could put on your resume and talk to future employers about.
So yes, so I think a lot of people do most people do the regional studies, but again, it depends on where you're at in your careers. Some people might be sort of out there already in the policy space and are realizing they need maybe a little more of the tools and they're going to get some stats. A Nikon but maybe they want to take a little bit more advanced E come through the school management or or some other type of.

To apply for a joint degree, can I get a fee waiver for both programs? I've read Jackson do offers a fee waiver
Practical related class and there's a lot of things like never professor here that does a lot of work with data and so those those tools are available to you even outside the classrooms let's see good little plug for.
November maybe when I'm going to be in Asia, Asha Rangappa, or director admissions whose effects remember here as well. She she will be doing a webinar on joint degrees so she'll go into a little bit more detail. She worked at the law school before coming to Jackson so.
Chipmunk this time, so I would say that yeah, so if you're able to do that. And that is on our events calendar, so check that out, if you're free but.
I can definitely answer in general, the this specific question is about fee waivers. So when you're applying for a joint degree. You actually do apply to the 2 programs completely separately. There's no overlap there's no.
The only thing yeah, no, I mean, we talk to each other so we know who's applying for joint degrees and all of that and you indicate that when you are applying?
But the application requirements are completely separate so you can get a fee waiver by applying to Jackson. By December 1st. That's automatic and I don't know that the other professional schools have fee waivers if they do try to get your application in before then. Otherwise, you would have to pay the application fee. So if they don't have it for example, they don't have an application fee. You a fee waiver. You could apply to us by December 1 and.
Get that and then sometime in December or whatever their deadline is you can apply and you have to pay the fee and each admissions process is handled separately.
You know, we have an additional memo. You need to justify why you want to do the joint degree in with which professional school and I'm assuming the same would be through the others, and that also means that we Unfortunately don't waive the Jerry so if you're applying and need the gmat or the else ahead. You might want to check with the schools to see if they will waive there's currently we don't wait wait. Jerry so keep that in mind completely separate admissions process that answers your question.

What are examples of things that would strengthen your application?
See an Rd nevaz game? What are examples of things that would strengthen your application talked about a couple a couple being you know your work experience emphasizing that.
But also make sure you emphasize your extracurriculars your community service. Your volunteer work. All of that is really a part of commitment to the global good and are things that could bring up something that's unique that stands out about your application so that's something while we done. I didn't mention this before, when talking about the curriculum while we don't.
Require people to have taken ecan before applying we do strongly recommend it before enrolling so anybody who gets admitted.
They may get admitted with limited ecan skills. We will over the summer. If you choose to enroll recommend that you take something weather at a local Community College or or Sarah or something on line.
A refresher class to take before you enroll because it will set you up you know our classes are are are stats in Orycon classes are taught. Obviously with Apolosi perspective and social social science perspective and all of that, so will kind of expect you to have a good basis framework of of your stats and income before coming. You don't have to. But it will definitely be to your advantage so all of that to say.
Having those things like want strength stats ecan. While not required will strengthen your application so that's that's one other thing.
There is a lot of it is just about who you are don't forget to tell us who you are, and why you need us. That's important, and choose the right recommenders for you, it's not so much about names for us and how important people are but how well they know you and how well they can affirm your commitment to Global Affairs and your commitment to serving the global community and what your strengths are and another side note.
It is had any particular weaknesses. You don't need to hide them. It's presumably. They like a you know you bombed a particular class or didn't do so well in your transcript. If you want to add something to like the additional information. There's there's a couple sections in the application where you can upload an explanation of why something turned out the way it did there's no harm in that transparency is usually the best policy so right.

Deadline for submitting GRE scores?
Good what is asking about the deadline for submitting Jerry's first I will say.
Ideally, in best practices to have them in by the deadline and I when I say divine. I do mean January, 2nd so between your Jerry's annual recommendations 2 things that are really outside of your control.
A little bit. I would say that we have a little bit of flexibility with so if you want to apply by the December 1st deadline don't feel like you have to have your Jerry and your recommenders skin by that December, 1st deadline. They should be here by the January 2nd deadline. If you are one of those last minute. People who apply by January 2nd.
Again ideally we should have your scores and all your letters by then we can wait maybe a week. But we get started reading really quickly, we because hopefully enough people apply by the early deadline to get the fee waiver that helps us that helps us kind of know what to expect going forward. Maybe the rest of the applicable size is going to be, but we have to really our committee has to get reading right away so.
You really don't want to have those delayed more than a couple days beyond the January 2nd deadline.
I will know that there's no advantage to getting things in early either. So the December 1st deadline is really for you, Anne again helps us more philosophically, but it's not an admissions advantage. We don't do rolling admissions were definitely a holistic process. So we read everything and then you know, we discussed as a committee so there's no practical advantage for getting admitted by getting up early.
Up Oh no people are saying we froze.

I missed the response to the GRE scores deadline
I lost some of your last questions, so with these last 10 minutes that I have OK. Thank you. Jerry scores deadline. Thank you wrote a Yes. Real quick as we have this left 10 minutes and now you're on my lap, so I hope it's it's OK. I see my double chin, but Jerry deadline is ideally you will want to get that in by the deadline that is most ideal but if you are applying by.
December 1st that really that deadline is really for you to help you get your fee waiver and for us to kind of get an idea of who's applying but also that means that January 2nd is times. If you're applying by December, 1st your juries test scores recommendations those things can actually come in by the January 2nd deadline. I did I think I was rambling on about making sure that you if you apply for one of those last minute types and apply by January.
We really need those scores and recommendations within a few days, maybe a week. 'cause we do start reading right away so keep that in mind.
Oh am I being lost again. Somebody said there's no audio but I can be seen.
Um 'cause This is not happened.

What would further strengthen my application?
I'll be the peace core event next week in DC and about women in DC for the oxy event in New York City has an app. See event at CFR so if any of you are see let me really quick.
Definitely having some quality strength is better, even though it's not required apon admission. It's definitely having it will strengthen your application and I always like to say don't forget to tell us why you want to participate in this program and what you want to get out of this program so many people tell us how great they are, and how great we are, and then forget to tell us you know what their their goals are and what they want to get out of this program too.
To come to meet those goals, so definitely be clear, I like to think of the application as a portfolio like one big picture so think about you know what your strength strength and weaknesses are and you want to balance those so you know, maybe you're choosing recommenders who can help offset in academic weakness or, if you are coming with limited work experience you have.
You know more recommendations from people from internships or other types of employment so we do, we do prefer you have at least 1 academic and one professional and then the 3rd? Is sort of based on your individual experience OK. We have about 5 or 6 minutes. People can still hear me those of you those last couple questions that I lost.
When I restarted the video please.
If you want to ask those again while we have about 5 minutes otherwise. Here's what I will do I mentioned funding, but we are pretty proud or funding. So I'm gonna take that link and copy that for you into the chat box so you have that.

Options that we keep so I think a lot of people do.

12:55:58 PM
Can you please resend the link to course templates?
Teaching Fellows and course assistance and all of that to help offset the funding but also just to have the experience, too, so that's something that a lot of people do recent course templates and if you mean the Yale.
Melissa McGinnis

Um or schedule, yes, I will send the elcor schedule and I put that in the chat and if I can find it really quickly, so I don't waste these last 4 minutes. The matrices that we have that are examples. Most things on our website. If you go under study and go under. MA there are courses.

Yeah, so on this link that I'm going to send you an MAF students can look at this as well. There's just again not the core requirements and much more freedom. The bottom of that link that I just sent you actually has sample matrices. So you can take a look at those to see what some students have done in the past.

What if we have been out of school for more than 10 years and only have professional recommendations?
Christiana or Christina sorry is asking out of school.
More than 10 years and have only professional recommendations sort of a loaded question again. We are an academic program. This is Yale. So we do like an academic reference.
We may be willing to overlook it if your record your academic record is absolutely stellar and that's complemented by good. Jerry scores, which for better work. Sometimes aren't as good when people have been out for longer. So if there's no questions or concerns. You know, we might be like OK. That's fine. But I would also recommend that maybe you give us a little explanation straightforward but.

Relative to other APSIA schools, how much does this program emphasis developing and using quantitative research skills?
A faculty member person somebody who's just familiar with your academics for Inscom be helpful, especially for people have been out for awhile so keep that in mind, but it can help tennis tennis. A lot, but it you know it might be less problem.
Connor is asking relative another app to schools. How much does program emphasize developing using quantitative research skills. I would say given links and having poem from a very quantitative program. Prior to this that. We fall somewhere in the in the middle, maybe and the lower middle as far as.
What we require and the fact that we do still have a stats in a Nikon requirement and the courses that you take you can actually choose which ones you may or may want to do you might want to take more classes and they would actually be available to do so. So you have that option to choose which direction you want to go. You want to come and take very low limited.
I hope that answers we have bottom unit laughed. I believe the Shanker cut us off so.
And now we have a car alarm, so maybe that's a good thing right so.
I think we have a minute any last minute questions. I know we lost about 10 minutes or so. Maybe not quite with whatever that technical issue was but I hope you found this helpful.
Feel free to join us again just as an FY I and maybe this is a teaser if some of you felt like you got shafted by the technical difficulties and if you're available in October. I think for those of you who might be in the Eastern Standard Time it'll be about 1:00 o'clock. It's noon or one. I think have to double check, but I'll be in Cairo next month. And I'm going to do the web and R from Cairo. Very well have its own disadvantages, and we may have technical issues, then as well. If those network connections, but
