Yup! Hello from Singapore :)
TBD, but keep your eye on our events calendar for that so.
Alright, greetings from Singapore. OK, thanks everybody. Well greetings from again in New Haven, CT. I am Melissa McGinnis and I am the assistant director of admissions at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs. And thanks for being here. We are primarily going to talk about the MAS program at Yale Jackson, so hopefully you are in the right place. Feedback has been that we don't give enough time in our webinars.
In other events on our mid career program so we heard you and wanted to dedicate one of our at least one of our webinars to just you. So I will go through some of the slides, but I really want to leave this open to questions. Hopefully some of my slides will give you a little bit of a feel of the cultural culture of the program and the community, and then I can dive into your questions.
Definitely want to make sure you have all your questions answered.
So I'll try to make it quick. I'm going through the slides, but technically obviously you have found the chat box and this you can see that this is one of those one way webinars. But please do feel free to post your questions in either as we go along or I will address them at the end. So if you do need closed captioning, you can hit the CC button on your screen. We also you can't see the slides. Hopefully you can use the expand screen.
And that is also presumably in the top right hand of your screen, like it is for me. So with that said, reiterating that we are here to talk about Jacksons mmass program or masters of Advanced Studies in Global Affairs. It is a one year mid career program. The minimum work experience that is required to apply is 7 years. I will say that we.
Typically average is about maybe 11:50 so that different differs every year, right? So it depends on the make up the applicant pool and who we admit. But just something to keep in mind, maybe as we address questions, or as you learn a little bit more about the program.
And it is fully customizable, so there are unlike our two year traditional program, it has no core classes that are required. So there are eight classes that you take over the course of one year.
It's as simple as that, so that's why we often were like, OK, we're done there it is. That's what you need to know about the Ms program, so that's why we often like sort of mentioned that at the beginning of other events and webinars, because it really is as straightforward as that. And and the other disclaimer thing too, is that currently we're not providing funding for the program, so that might be why you can't find some information about that.
You will notice that a lot of our students are usually externally funded or sponsored by their employers or their governments, so that's typically why the class makeup looks like that.
So that might be running. The reasons are our hope and dream would be that we would be able to provide funding in the future, and for those of you who don't know a lot about Yale Jackson, we are slated to become yells next professional school, launching officially in the fall of 2022. So that is a big deal. It's the first time that has happened since 1976 when they established the School of Management just down the road.
So this is a big deal for Jackson and for Yale, so this is been a long time coming and you know we're looking forward to becoming the Jackson School for Global Affairs, not expecting a lot of the culture to change, or the sort of a philosophy of who we are and the community. What we are anticipating changing is having a lot more control over our ladder faculty and the tenured faculty. So we will have control over that.
Process and so that's one thing that we're definitely looking forward to, and another is hopefully having additional funding. We do have decent funding for our two year program, and the dream would be that we could fund them more and also offers some MASC funding. So please keep in mind if you're applying this year that currently there is no formal funding for the MASC. So as we go through talking about some of these things really briefly and mention the different centers in the different communities of people that are very integrated.

Into your Jackson experience. I'm going to post some links in the chat just so you have them, so they're a little bit easier to find, and I know some things can be hard to navigate on our website, so I want to make sure you don't lose them, so I will put post things in the chat as we go. So to start with this particular page here.
Lopa B.
08:07:41 PM
Can the MAS students opt for teaching assistantships, on campus jobs etc.?What is the total program cost?
Actually, is an overview of the Ms curriculum and the basics of the M AS not just the curriculum, but it does explain the flexibility of it and the qualifications of it. One practical thing and we can talk about admissions process a little bit later. We did opt to waive the GRE for the mass program, so if anybody is on here and you are interested.
In the empty, the two year program I won't be talking about a lot of those requirements. Again. Like I mentioned this, I want to make sure the mask inquiries get some do time so, but I'm happy to post things in the chat or you can reach out to me later or there is a number of other events scheduled in the next couple weeks or a couple months. So that's the overview there and I also want to add something which is less findable.
Melissa McGinnis
08:08:19 PM
https://courses.yale.edu/
Is the course database OK? And in that course database you could do keyword searches on your areas of interest and see everything that's available to you. So the beauty of Jackson's program is that you not only have Jackson classes available to you, you have what we call the academic playground that is Yale and all of its professional schools available to you. So our students take a lot of courses. Also through the school.
Management, The School of the Environment, the Law school. It all really depends on what your particular area of interest is, so that's something to keep in mind and it can be a little overwhelming if you do a keyword search on that on that database link, because you could potentially have hundreds of classes come up. Do keep in mind that should you get admitted and choose to enroll the Student Affairs Office meet so one on one with each person. So our director of graduate studies sits down with.
Each mass candidate to talk over your plans and go through all of that process so you are not meant to do that alone, but obviously you are interests and passions will drive those choices. So that is something to keep in mind. And also because we don't have any prescribed.
Certificates or paths of study. You really do create your own path.
It will strengthen your application to tell us on the front end what you anticipate that path to be. You don't have to tell us what these are. The eight courses that I want to take and you don't have to name a path of study or what would be like a certificate of study. But really having a good idea of what that would be is is definitely what we're looking for. OK, so we can talk about that from an admissions process, but I wanted to make sure I mention it.
We're talking about the flexibility of the program.
Lopa B.
08:10:21 PM
Is the MAS a STEM degree?
And also I want to add in the.
Melissa McGinnis
08:10:25 PM
https://jackson.yale.edu/meet-us/grad-students/overview/
Student BIOS, so these are our current student BIOS and the MASC. Students are all the way down at the bottom of the page. No pictures yet because we're still getting settled in here, and I think the BIOS are actually there so you don't need their pictures so you can check those out. And I think that will just give you a really, really helpful idea of the kind of student that we do. Enroll in the program.
Historically, the program's been very very very small, smaller even than our MPP program. The mass has been about two to five students, so very small, very competitive, and you'll notice it's almost double that. This year we are initiating some new programs.
That there's one in particular it's called the PMK. I won't get into that unless any of you here are interested in that particular program, but allow it's a relationship partnership fellowship with international military, and so you will. Hopefully, as you're looking through the BIOS on the website, you will be able to tell the difference of who those are, 'cause they are not sort of separated out, but hopefully the BIOS will give you a really good picture of the type of student we have in the program.
And I will share some more information and a couple upcoming slides about that to give you a little bit of sort of additional resources on where people come from and where they go. I see a couple questions before I sort of get into some of the.
Communities that will be relevant to your time here, let me see if there are questions that I can answer as we go. Command Maya students up for teaching assistance on campus jobs. What is the total program cost? Great question. Yes, they are absolutely eligible for the TAS and the TFCS&RA's. Let me find that for you as well.
It is buried on the MPP page again because it more, it's it is a funding enhancement.
Melissa McGinnis
08:12:52 PM
https://jackson.yale.edu/study/mpp/tuition-funding/
But the MPP tuition and funding page also has the costs of living at the bottom of it. So let me.
Paste that in for you, so that is a great question. So the estimated costs are at the bottom net page.
Melissa McGinnis
08:13:24 PM
https://jackson.yale.edu/study/mpp/teaching-and-research-positions/
Jarett M.
08:13:25 PM
Do you anticipate the next cohort to be similar in size to the current one, or more in line with the historically smaller size?
We won't know future tuition for a while, but the this past year the tuition was 44500 and the estimated costs are there, so hopefully that makes some sense. And you know there is a link for the teaching and research positions, but I will post that in as well. The page I just sent you will drill down to that, but this will go. This page will go into a lot more detail about.
So yes, absolutely available and not so Jackson students get first dibs on the working as a teaching fellow with the R Jackson Faculty and Jackson Senior Fellows. But a lot of students also look outside of Jackson and depending on your area of interest.
May end up with.
You know, being AT A or research assistant with a faculty in another department or another school, so that's something to keep in mind. And and for our students, does go beyond monetary.
It also becomes another networking tool to have to work closely with faculty members, especially if they are in a particular.
Area that you're interested in, so hopefully that helps. There's a great question.
I would say Lopez asking if the mass is a STEM degree. I you know that is more of like a visa government question, I would say probably not, because it's still a global affairs degree. We get the question often because you could take eight classes and maybe you take a lot of quad classes right? Or different types of math classes or high level ECON classes over at the School of Management so you can sort of choose your classes to be that way. But I global affairs is not.
Typically on a list that we see when we look at like the government, I didn't call this up since I do know from registrations that there are a lot of international students, presumably on here living internationally. Anyway, I will give you the link to the Office of International students and scholars that have a lot of helpful information.

08:15:30 PM
Are the M.A.S program students eligible for financial aid through FAFSA?
About all of that. So let me give you that, all right, let me see. I think there's one more question and maybe I will keep going. Jared is asking if we anticipate the next cohort to be similar in size to the current one or more in line with historically smaller. You know, Derek, that is a great question.
This year obviously is is weird because of COVID and and the ongoing global pandemic, so it's been a little different this last year and so this is the largest cohort of mass that we've had in the history of Jackson. So that decision and is is well above me and my pay grade, but I think it will remain to be seen like we want to provide the best resources.
Or all of you.
And so we want to remain small. Uhm, so I think it will. It will. Only time will tell if this ends up being too big of a cohort, right and so, but at the same time really, if you look at the the BIOS.
And half of them being the parks which are getting a lot of help through the International Leadership center and having a lot of their own programming. As you know, in addition, so the traditional Emmaus students are still sort of in that five or six range. So it's still small. We don't anticipate it growing much bigger than that. Something to keep in mind too. I get a lot of questions from the mass about.
The cohort driven nature of the program. Since our our MPP is very forced cohort with their core curriculum and a lot of social engagements and do keep in mind that any of this student activities, the students are involved with the salons, the various things like that you know, we've been having orientation meetings and you know been meeting the students there as well. So everybody has their different.
Focus and how much they want to, you know, remain integrated into the the Jackson community. Even if they take a majority of their courses outside of Jackson, so that almost becomes sort of your choice on how on how integrated you are in that community. So I know there's been MASC students in the past who feel completely part of the MTV cohort, right? Like the just with the nature of our building and the student lounge.
Down the hall and and all of that sort of thing so.
I hope that answers your question. I will dive in through some more slides to go through these and then we'll get to some more of your questions. Alright, let's see. Oh, I did you know, sort of, hopefully coming out in everything that we talked about it. It will show the the philosophy of the community, which I have here on this slide that we are a community of scholars in all dedicated to making a difference to the global good, right? So that.
Many times we get asked what we're looking for in applicants and the one major theme, regardless of background, is that commitment to global affairs and to the global good in the global community. So that's the one main thing. And then having some academic, you know background. You know, having some some good, some solid education in your background, and some relevant work experience. Those are the basics of what we're looking for, and then it really comes.
Down to that size, and that's how we sort of have to build the class if you will, and it's it's not just about what you need to learn from us and we need you to tell us what it is you need to learn from us. Why Graduate School? Why now why Jackson, but also what you can contribute to the Community here at Jackson, and so hopefully that comes out through all the resources that were that I've provided, and that we're talking about today and.
Sabrina P.
08:20:07 PM
Given how far out some of us may be from undergrad/grad school, do you all require academic recommendations?
And this slide really goes back to the flexibility of the program. The various things that people participate in, the kind of areas of study. This is not exhaustive by any means, so people are coming to Jackson for all sorts of different reasons, right so?
Melissa McGinnis
08:20:46 PM
https://jackson.yale.edu/meet-us/senior-fellows/overview/
And obviously the the focus is different depending on people's backgrounds and why they are attending grad school now, and it may be to advance in their career. Or maybe their employer needs them to come to get certain. Maybe it's the skills, the harder skills, maybe it's a regional study. You know it's different for everybody, so hopefully that gives a little picture of the kinds of things that people do. I did run a really quickly mention the senior fellows.
Because they really are an integrated part of the Community and I will paste in their BIOS. You should definitely check them out and you know I have been here at Yale Jackson 4.
Uh, almost three years now, but I've been in the public and international affairs space for well over 20 years and so recruiting with others working at A at a friendly competitor down in New Jersey and so very familiar with with this. And if if any of you you're doing your research on these top IR programs.
We all have these top names right there. They're here, they're there. You know you have. We all promote them right. We promote these. These people, these ambassadors, these generals. But again in my experience.
Matt T.
08:21:40 PM
Is there a link/page that shows generally where M.A.S. graduates work following their time at Yale?
Mitch M.
08:21:44 PM
Does Jackson have plans to offer a Global Affairs Ph.D. in 2022?
This is just my personal experience, right? Is that at Jackson these people these senior fellows are completely integrated into the community. They are not just coming here for a couple days to give a talk. They are coming to teach. They do give lectures outside of their classroom. They bring in their networks. They talk with students. They participate in activities. I have one of our former.
Ambassadors is joining me for a recruiting event later this week, so and we already have one of our new senior fellow who's who is from Nigeria who is already referring candidates to us. So they are very passionate to be here at the Yale Jackson community, and so I think that's something I challenge you to to look into. As you research graduate schools and graduate programs and the kind of networks that you can have, because these will add to your networks beyond.
Your classmates and our traditional Yale Jackson faculty. But you can count the senior fellows as a network of known students who've gone on to do research projects and.
You know work for senior fellows after graduation, so it's a great network to have.
Melissa McGinnis
08:23:03 PM
https://jackson.yale.edu/jackson-visiting-fellows-program/
OK, and I did want to talk a little bit about the visiting fellows as well. They are more short term but again they are.
We post in their page. I have some of them here on the slide. They are definitely enhancing the experience. They some come back. We've had service come before and he's coming back this year so you know, you just follow that and see. You know the kinds of and and they give talks. And the nice thing is I think with.
The pandemic I think a lot of virtual is also here to stay, so I think we're going to be able to have more people than we have had in the past because they've all been in person in the past. So I think adding the virtual nature of things will be helpful to to bring even more events and resources and so often these people are. We have conferences surrounding them, and and again, speaking at conferences we have the Johnson Center, so I'm happy to post.
Melissa McGinnis
08:24:02 PM
https://jackson.yale.edu/johnson-center-study-american-diplomacy/
Their page in two if you want to check that there's an annual conference every year and in the topic is always a little bit different, but it's definitely you know, a lot of students, and I would say not that the MPP students don't get involved, but it seems like a lot of the students get a little bit more involved in some of these conferences.
Melissa McGinnis
08:24:33 PM
https://worldfellows.yale.edu/
So that's something to keep in mind about the different types of opportunities you might have and, and I also want to mention the world Fellows because I've talked to a lot of MASC candidates in the past who actually are potentially interested in being a world fellow. So the world fellow is a completely separate process. There's a completely different office just across the hall, so I don't have anything.
To do with that, there are 16 people on the rise in their careers, and there's a very robust admissions process for them, and they come to Yale Jackson in the fall semester and they are taking classes themselves, but.
They are here as a resource and the link I just gave you will show you who the current ones are.
And the history of the previous cohorts. Something to keep in mind is they are part of your network as well, so some people ask, well, gosh, Jackson so new and so small.
You know we're small, so if you only have a few people per cohort, obviously you would think of the alumni community night might not be very big, but keep in mind you do have the MPP alumni community. You have the the senior fellows and you also have the World Fellows who are completely integrated and there's a lot of organic communication that happens pre and post COVID right it? It didn't happen as much this past year because their student lounges their lounges.
Right across from our student lounge. So a lot of this stuff comes up. They do events as well and students are can be liaisons to work with them, so there's a lot of opportunity to interact with them and they're a great cohort of people. If you have questions about being a world fellow, I can point you to the admissions director or feel free to send. Send me an email. Contact information will be at the end of this.

https://iss.yale.edu/
But they are a unique cohort that are part of the community that makes Jackson super unique. Two quick things. I will post these links in. Again, our growth. There's a lot of questions about how we're going to change. I will also say that we are acquiring a couple new centers, so they're coming under Jackson's purview, so a lot more.
Sense and a lot more.
You know, it's hard to know how much this will grow over the years, but check out those centers if you're interested in International Security international leadership. So check those links out. I just didn't want anything to go by without making sure I pointed those out to you. All right, let's see, I think I saw a couple questions.
And let me get to those before we dive into some of the more practical stuff or the Ms program student eligible for financial aid through FAFSA. We at the graduate level. We don't use the fasfa our funding at Jackson is.
It's merit based, so we haven't. We don't use those, but.
Obviously you can apply there's loans and personal loans and, and we haven't gotten into the fast. I don't know if that's something we're going to consider in the future as as funding me change, but currently if there's external funding or federal funding that you can find and apply for, that's totally fine. We just don't deal with that at Jackson, so hopefully that helps. It's not a great answer to your question, but hopefully it helps. Man is asking if there's a link or page at.
Shows generally where I may ask graduates work with following their time at Yale. Great, yes and no. We're going to talk about that through the slides. There's not that page on the website, and part of that is because with the cohorts being so small, it would be not a big information and you might be able to figure out who people are. And we do try to keep that a little bit some privacy for the alumni. I will say though, feel free to poke around LinkedIn.
As well, that's you know a lot of our alumni are on there and you should feel free to do that and reach out. If you find shared interests there. I'm assuming they will indicate which degree they were interested in, but we'll talk about some of that here, and this is another reason why I'm I'm glad that we did this so you know you'll have some of the information. Generalized information here on these slides, so we'll talk about that image is asking if Jackson's plans are for global affairs.
PhD in 2022.
Another question that is way above my pay grade, but I doubt in 2022 right. I think some could speculate that with our growing our with us growing our faculty which will happen slowly with time we already have a number of faculty but also between growing the faculty and adding. You know taking creating.
Research centers under our purview that one might assume that more faculty, more research centers, might mean a need for PhD.
We do have postdocs currently, usually maybe just one a year, so that's not handled by admissions. Those are more handled by HR through applying.
And through that process.
So the short answer is no. Will that happen in the next few years remains to be seen. There's some speculation that that could be, but I've not heard of any any anything backing that anytime in the near future. So sorry if you are interested in the PhD for now. OK, great. I don't see any questions, so let me actually talk about some of the stuff. So a lot of people will start at the beginning applicants.
What they were doing, so I sort of went through and you know, looked through some history of the kinds of things that applicants were doing when they applied. So and these are, I think, a majority of these are applicants and also admits I don't have hard stats on this. But these are the very common backgrounds of where people are coming from, so I wanted to make sure you saw this. So you get a good idea. You know, obviously.
You know when people are diplomats already, and obviously they're coming to grad school to to keep going on that path in the foreign service. We have people who are intelligence officers, civil servants, reporters, all sorts of levels of US, and international military. This is not an exhaustive list, right? So there are obviously various people who might have completely unique backgrounds that would be.
Completely eligible for part of the program. So basically what I mentioned before what we're looking for is that commitment to global affairs that you are mid career that you need this degree to take. Take it to the next level in your existing career. I would say we might get questions about this, but I'll preemptively say that four, especially for the MAF.
Pivots are pretty rare, so a lot of people ask about pivoting, and you know from a different career. I'm not saying it's impossible, but that it is very, very rare to have somebody who's coming from a non global affairs non IR background to get into the MASC. And part of that I think might be our concern that is this what you want to do right? We see work experience.
As evidence of commitment to this field and to this global affairs career so, and also with the flexibility, combine that with the flexibility of the program that you can choose any eight courses you want. You technically could come and take eight classes at the law school or School of Management and not take any Jackson classes, right? That's not what we hope you'll do.
Tactically, it is what you can do. It's maybe not what you should do, so we're looking for an application that tells us the why Jackson piece and if anybody here has been an armor general webinars where we do talk about the MPP a little bit more. It's really the same philosophy, right? It's the same idea that why Jackson piece is still just as important, if not more important because of the complete flexibility. The 100% flexibility.
Of the Ms program so.
That's something to keep in mind and happy to chat about some of these backgrounds, but I also have which I think was maybe Mitch is question somebody questioned no, not Mitch is Matt Matt's question and I compiled some of these profiles, mixed it up a little bit, generalized a little bit summer, a little specific again just to protect the privacy of our alumni. Again, if you want to reach out to look at LinkedIn to see, you might.
Be able to sort of determine who some of these people are, and they may be more than willing. Some may be more than willing to come.
Matt T.
08:34:27 PM
Yes - thank you
To answer questions, if you have some, but hopefully this gives you a good picture of the kinds of things that RMS alumn do and I would say that yes, great man. Hopefully blood itself will leave this up as long as possible too.
Give you that picture. Obviously it's pretty clear if you look at the student BIOS, you're like. Wait, some of these people are doing these things already and and then it's really you know what I mentioned already is that people are mid career, often staying in the same career but are advancing in that career so.
I mean, I think that's something to keep in mind as far as what we're looking for on the front end, but the idea that you know we have obviously a great relationship with military we don't have as many journalists as you would think. I'm not usually ends up being self selection by by the the journalists themselves we want to. It depends on what you're coming to Jackson for, right? So that would be, you know, we don't have a.
Tanveer A.
08:35:35 PM
would it be possible to share specific calendar dates from application to admission decisions and the program schedule (courses per term, with start and end dates etc.)?
Journalism school here Yale. Despite having us becoming the 14th professional school, that's one thing that we don't have. So you know, a lot of the journalists are coming here because they want to get the policy or the regional areas to really dive into that part we have. I know people have taken documentary film, documentary classes, so there's lots of different opportunities like that, so hopefully this gives you a good idea.
Of the background and where people have gone on in different countries.
And sort of all over the world so.
If before I leave this slide and I don't think I had the only other slide I have left is sort of the contact information and all of that, so I want to get to that. But if you have any questions about.
The alumni profiles. Please do let me know and again you can always go back and watch. This is being recorded and the slide should be there. Unfortunately and and the the transcript should be there too so you'll have access to these links again. So I am happy to bounce back to this slide. If anybody has any questions, but I did want to talk about the practical stuff and that is that our final deadline is January 2nd, but we do have a December 1st deadline to get an application fee.
Automatically waived, there is no admission advantage to applying early. It's really for your benefit to save that fee and just get everything out of the way.
The everything else your recommenders and whatnot should, even if you apply by December 1st, your recommendations can still come in by January, so that's something to keep in mind. It is not rolling admissions. We make decisions in the middle of March mid Ish March, we promised we get decisions done and out as soon as we can. We do not sit on them. This year we are still part of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
So that means the it's the Jesus application form. So anybody who's applying in the future.
We will be having our own applications, so some of the more confusing things about PHD's and academics.
You can sort of ignore those aspects of the application. Definitely write your application for Jackson, even though you might see a lot of generic stuff within the application, so hopefully that makes sense. But I wanted to make sure I pointed that out and then any admins have until May 1st to reply to the deadline. So lots of links here to follow us on social media. I am happy to. I mean hopefully I'll answer some of your questions.

With the time that we have remaining, but I do have a calendar that links to some brief 15 minute appointments via zoom of course and I am happy to take appointments if I didn't answer any of your questions. We don't do interviews or anything like that, so those meetings won't have any bearing on the application process, but I'm happy to answer questions, especially if I didn't get to your question, but let's dive in. I do see another question.
Here and we will hopefully get those answers. So Tanveer is asking if it would be possible to share specific calendar dates from application to admissions decisions. Program scheduled courses per term with start and end dates. Yes, uhm.
Their Yale has an academic calendar.
And that will be up. I don't have that up.
But
do keep in mind that and maybe you need it. I know a lot of people need that, especially if they're sponsored by their employers, so I know that that stuff is pretty relevant.
So.
Let me try to find that for you. I'm just going on the Yale webpage and looking for and doing a search for academic calendars and we will be following the.
Uhm?
The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences will have our own in the future, but we don't really anticipate anything changing too much. So again, the future calendar is not quite up yet.

Sorry I'm speaking so slowly and methodically, but I'm trying to do two things at once and find this for you so the academic calendar.

Do you know if Jackson has any intent to create executive-level distant global affairs masters programs as compared to other top universities? If Jackson does, I am not aware.
You can anticipate that most of our our orientation is used for Jackson is usually at the end of August and going through graduation, which is usually sometime at the end of May, so hopefully that will help the the general picture.
And hopefully that answers your question. I'm all right now. Do you know if Jackson has any intent to create executive level distant global affairs masters programs compared to other top universities? If Jackson does, I'm not aware not currently, so I think, UM.
If you know we with us becoming a school next year, I think we are just focused on that transition right now and not making a lot of major changes. I mean, it looks like we are because we are, you know, we changed our MA degree name to an MP and we're obviously creating and adopting these centers and growing our faculty and whatnot. But I think we are focused on that transition and doing.

Thank you for your insight.
The back end stuff. I'm sure somebody might be thinking about that somewhere, but currently there are no plans to have a distance program, so sorry about that. Any other questions?

In the application, one of the questions asks how we have or will fulfill the language proficiency requirement for Global Affairs. (Required for native English speakers). Is this required for MAS applicants? If not, how should we respond to the question (i.e. leave blank or state that we're an MAS applicant)?
It we do have a good amount of time left if need be, or I can let you have your evening or morning depending on where you are.

Thank you for the webinar!
Logging in from oh God Nikki's got a long question, so let's see in the application one of the question asks how we have or will fulfill the language proficiency requirement for global affairs. That is a great question. It is not as required for the mass. It's helpful to know what your language background is, but the language requirement is the proficiency requirement is not the same for the mass, and then again, it's just one of those awkward.
Things that being part of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and applications. So hopefully when we have our own application, if you're a future application applicant.
We will try to not have that question even show up in the in the application form for mass candidates. So you can absolutely leave it blank if there is a technical issue that you can't leave it blank.

Excellent. Thank you!
You could say or say you know I'm applying to the Ms, so yeah, you don't have to worry about that. Great question. Thanks for asking.
Alright, anyone else?
Have any question?

Uhm, I know there's just a handful of you laughed, so again, we could call it a night. I know it's almost 8:00 PM here where I am, so I'm I'm more than happy to to call it a night. But I am here as a resource for you. So if you have questions or if you want to ping the calendly link that I gave you a little bit ago. Happy to do so and.

Thank you for the session!
And thanks for your interest. All right, I'm getting a lot of thank yous, so I think that means I can. I don't want to cut us off if there's somebody who does want to ask a last minute question. So happy to hang on for a minute, but I promise for those who want to bounce. I'm not going to say anything really profound unless somebody asked me a question as such. So.
Yeah, I'll give it one more minute and then then we'll say goodbye uhm.
So I'm seeing people log out so keep an eye on our on our admissions calendar. Hopefully you found it. I don't know if that's how you found this session. I know we did send an email out I believe. Went out a couple weeks ago, but do make sure you follow.

Our the events calendar again is a little bit buried. It's buried on the empty page, so I have asked and we have a website change coming upgrade coming and I have asked to make sure that the events page can also be on the Ms page so you don't so you're able to find it. They are on the main events page as well.

They get a little bit lost during the semester because it's all of the Yale Jackson events, so you'll see in the second link that I just sent, we have all our admission stuff is getting filled in with some, you know. We have the CNN chief correspondent and we have OB. Who's our news? One of our new senior fellows doing events and there will be more events coming throughout fall.
If you want to follow us, obviously you can keep an eye on that. A lot of those events are open to the public.
And a lot are going to be virtual, especially this semester. Next semester remains to be seen, so keep an eye on that and I think if you want to, there is a form that you can fill out to be on the list to get those events. So especially those of you who are in the greater New Haven area, maybe that's something you want to do is. Again, these conferences that we might have again, probably not this fall. Hopefully in the spring. Hopefully we will be out of this pandemic soon enough so all right I see no new questions please.
Feel free, I think there will be an automated email that goes out. There's a, there's a feedback form we want to improve these as we go. Hopefully having one dedicated to mass. Maybe it's something we do continue and have every year, but would love your feedback on what you're looking for.
And.
How we can improve these? So alright, I will cut us off and say good night or good day or have a good week and and be in touch. If you have any questions stay safe out there. OK thank you bye.
